January 1943, Under the third Willy's contract W-3. Congratulations! Now you can really start knowing which parts are original of not, and you can be really particular if you want when replacing parts. The fun begins!

Hey, now just keep your eye open for an MB engine with a number slightly higher than your serial number. Luckily the engine and chassis numbers are slightly off. If you stumble across a ford engine, they make great barter! It is great that you have the frame serial number, so many of the MB's lost their tags. I know how exciting it is to find the number. Ain't it great! Sort of like bringing it back to life with all of it's history.

i cant tell you how excited me and my grandson were when i uncovered that tag. my grandson really didnt know why we were excited but i was so he was too it kinda made my jeep a real jeep. it now has a past and a future. i will keep it till he grows up and with any luck he will still be into flat fenders.even my dad who is 86 is excited about the jeep .he is a world war two veteran of the battle of lone tree and the retaking of corrigidore. he has a lot of fond memories and stories about jeeps back then. he calls me every morning and asks if i am going to work on the jeep today . he nick named it walter after his old commanding officer walter krugar c.o. of the sixth infantry (sightseers) nice talking to you . im sure there are going to be many more questions to post.
