Does anyone run an accel coil with their pertronix? I have a 74 cj5 with a 258 and I put a pertronix igniter in it and I was wondering if it would run allright with the accel superstock coil 8140? Is this going to cause harm to my Pertronix?

    thanks,
    nathan

I use to run mine that way, never hurt anything.

The coil shouldn't make any difference, the Pertronix is simply a trigger for whatever ignition system you use. What WILL matter is whether the coil needs a ballast resistor or not. If it says to use one, then do it or you'll likely burn it up.

Would it still be beneficial to gap my plugs to .045 with this setup? Thanks for your help.

I would go with the Accel recommendations. With a hotter ignition setup you can sometimes open up the plug gap a bit, but don't get too crazy with it.
