Also talked to a guy today, Gerald in Green Cove Springs (close to Jacksonville)- he has Commando Parts for sale:
66-71 Hood
72-73 Hood
373 Front ends
331 Rears
3 V-6 Buicks, one rebuilt with T-400 tranny

He has a lot of it on Craigs List- Jacksonville
He said that he used to have a lot of stuff, but has sold a lot of the body parts that he had.

 

Lets see...$500 in todays money is like me filling up my truck 6 times,something I do every month. I guess it is worth whatever someone is willing to pay ,although I agree with you in that I would want more than $500.If it has all the driveline components in reasonable condition I would think someone would spend alot more then $500 in time and money trying to chase down all the parts that you have with just this one complete vehicle.

I don't think I would take any less than a $1000 for it. I know they aren't made of unobtainium, but you don't run across Commandos (especially in good condition) that often, but YMMV.

 

You said a friend offered you $500. How good a friend? If you want to get him addicted to the jeep Thing I say sell it. But tell him a grand. If it was up here in the rust belt you could get $1500-2000 for it!

 

If you get to Green COve to get parts, George (The Motor Pool) has a Commando in his junkyard. I saw it today but didn't really look at it. Might have some parts you need.

 

Yeah, I'm DEFINITIVELY going to stop in at Green Cove next time I make a trip over that way- And I have got to go down where the 67 is to put a battery on it and see if it will even turn over.

Thought about it all weekend, and decided that I want to get that one going too.
