I would like to switch to a Petronix ignition and get rid of points once and for all. I have an aftermarket new distributor assembly I bought from Turners for my F-138 1958 CJ5, but I don't know who makes it. Can anyone please tell me which kit fits this distributor?

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I was unable to find a Pertronix kit to fit this very distributor. Very disappointing, but true. :( In the end I wound up paying through the nose for an NOS Autolite distributor and then installing the correct Pertronix kit; the distributor number on the tag will detrmine which kit you will need.

wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a new electronic one from Omix Ada and keep the old one as a spare?

Pertronix may be just fine but, an MSD 6a ignition was the way I went ... with 8mm wires, the performance is simply unbelievable!!! MSD controls the actual spark and dwell so now my points just act as a simple switch to trigger the MSD and gap/dwell setting is unimportant (as long as there is "some" gap). The MSD works on any 12v system regardless of distributor. I bought mine used and went with the 6a box rather than the 5 because I wanted a true capacitive discharge.

Buy another distributer that will accept the PERTRONIX because it MAKES A BIG DIFFERENCE. Worth the time and money to change!

I swapped to the Pertronix and Flamethrower coil - HUGE difference.....then I installed an MSD 6 plus digital and MSD coil - WOW! Best upgrade since the front disc brakes!!!

Those MSD 6 boxes are amazing ... now AI know why they consistantly go for so much "used" on eBay!!!
[Unless you've already done it] Wait till you try a 2" exhaust and run 15° initial spark advance
