OK, As i posted in an earlier post, the beast is running at this point. I have a new carb rebuild kit on order and i will soak in Berrymans and blow out before reinstalling. Now I have a couple of questions i'm hoping that somebody can give me a clue on. I ordered the Wildwood slave for the clutch, that looks promising.

I changed to HEI ignition and am ok, where should i time???? and what kind of plugs should I use. Should I go to the magic platinum, etc, etc or has anybody else been able to tell a difference.

Should i find a MSD6A multi spark ignition thingy or is it worth it? I have a 6200, but it's not right. The one speced is a 6245, but MSD doesn't show it anymore, they told me to go to a digital for only $300 or something like that, no thanks. I'm thinking the regular HEI is cool.

I'm currently using headers from JC Whitney. I was told by somebody once upon a time that they would crack at the plates at the heads if i didn't add secondary support? Any experience? I was also debating between JetHot and that wrap stuff?

Next to tackle after i get the clutch right and before i put the body back on is the shifter on the Dana 18? The one with the single shifter, i never can remember which is which. I talked to Novak and Kevin or Ken (don't remember that either) said i could fab up a double shifter and could run in two low, it wouldnt' do any damage. I guess i'm going to fab up a double shifter, but any advice would be appreciated.

After that I will put the body on and then start riggin the steering to go to a newer CJ box that has been bolted to a plate mounted on the driver side frame rail. It will have to be a two part steering linkage to go through a heim(sp?) joint on the motor mount and then to the steering box. The problem is the Linkage from the steering box to the passenger side thingy. I have done a spring over on the front and back so i need a linkage that has a double bend in it (if that makes any sense.) Once again, anybodys past experience appreciated.

At that point I should be confronted with who knows how many other issues, but that is the way it goes, no????

Anyways i'm excited about progress lately and look forward to actually driving it around the block in the next couple of months! Guess i'll have to find some driveshafts before then, but that should be one of the easier chores.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

PS I took a video with my phone of the first motor running session, i'll post it as soon as i get it downloaded. The driver side seems to run hotter than the passenger side, but who knows until i get it running right.

Headers. The headers go down and attach to the mufflers? and the mufflers are hung from the frame so that may count for your secondary attachment.

I've got the header wrap (got tired of melted wiring) and it works well to reduce the heat in the engine bay. But it doesn't take too kindly to mud and pressure washing. The Jet coating would be much more durable.
