New to the board!! I was wondering how to install oba on my buick v-6 with powersteering? I currently have a 198 buick v-6 in a 57 cj5 but have a 225 to go in. From what I can find out that the 198 is kind of a oddball engine and parts will not swap around from the other motors. I saw a york bracket on this web site but don't know if one can be bought like it or what the deal is. Thanks fdpwr2a

    Welcome from Boston!

IIRC the main problem with the 198 is the parts prices. Pretty sure you can still get a rebuild kit from Kanter, but it's likely cheaper to abandon it if it has any problems. Shares some parts with the aluminum 215 V8 and is most like that engine, also IIRC. The 225 is a different branch of the evolutionary tree that also contains the 300, 340 and 350 Buick V8s.

Maybe you could find AC brackets on a 231 from a RWD Buick car?

get a 215 or Rover engine, I still think that would be cool in a CJ5. I have seen pictures of one in a flatty and that is cool. One could get a 4.6 from a Discovery and keep the Bosch injection, certainly would be one of a kind.....

All of the buick v-6 cars I have run across in the junk yard have had a rotory compressor on them. If I would do a motor swap other than a buick it would be a cummins 4 cylinder turbo diesel. Now that would be cool:):)

think i would would rework an a/c bracket.

unless you find a junkyard with old cars (like from the early to mid 60's), since there used to be an aftermarket gm ac compressor kit years ago that used one.

On my buddy's jeep we mounted a Saden pump and filled it with grease works great pumps just as well as a York and they are easier to find.
We used the spot were the A.I.R pump would go above the power stearing pump I will see if I have some pics at home.
The brakets are from a 231 out of the junk yard.

I tried this here already....I contacted Killby and they don't make a bracket.the 231 brackets are for the gm radial comp not a york. space is tight for the York alt on one side, HUGE hei and power steering on the other . the sanden pump will work on the alt side next to the upper rad hose hey green71 do you have a pic??? I'm going the way of the sanden, the junkyard is full of them...:flag:

I installed a York compressor last year and fabricated a bracket to fit using one that I pulled from a 76 dodge powerwagon. It requires some cutting, welding and additonal metal, but I am very happy how it turned out. Do a search and you should find some photos that I posted a while back. Good luck and email me if you need any questions answered.

Here are the pics from my buddys jeep hope this can help someone.
Sorry it took me so long all

We filled the compressor with lithium so we do not have to run a drip oiler seems to be holding up so far.

If anyone want braket I can machine them for ya for a few bucks.
