Adding tailgate to fiberglass tub

    Anyone here done this? I would be much happier with my fiberglass body if it had a tailgate. I am curious to know if i jsut cut the rear and added one would the integrity of the tub be compromised.

    I spent some time looking at that when I was looking at glass tubs. IIRC when they cut them in at the factory (on the 7's etc) they add steel around the opening to beef it up.

    OK. I have to think about what to do to spruce up the rear of the jeep it just doesnt look right :(

    I had always just planned to bolt a tailgate to the body just because of it looking too plain.

    Rear center mounted spare. Put a bar across the top back of the body and bolt to the fender well tops for strength.
