    Alright,
I have gone thru just about everything I could on this Jeep, I replaced the parking brake shoes on the rear driveshaft, adjusted as in as tight as possible, installed the parking brake drum, driveshaft etc. I have had it out on a few drives now, maybe 30 miles, since drive #1 there has been a light chirping from the parking brake shoes, short of taking it apart and sanding em down, Should I just keep driving and let em wear themselves down till the noise is gone? Accelerate the wear by applying the parking brake one click on the handle? The return spring is doing what it should and releasing and holding? Anyone else seem to have this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Eric

Its possible the brake housing is bent a little maybe on outside or the backing plate is bent causing it to rub on the drum?

I had this problem with a set of replacement shoes I got from Herm. It was driving me nuts so I took it apart and took a belt sander to the edges of the shoes. It appeared to me that they were just a little too wide and the metal edge of the shoes were scraping against the drum. I tried living with it for awhile to see if it would just wear in and go away. It didn't.

brake drum is straight and backing plate has clearance as well. If I gotta pull em apart and do the shoes to get rid of it then I guess I will have to. Thanks.

Has anyone had one of these emergency brakes that didn't drag a bit? I have found that when perfectly clean and just put back together, they may be okay. Oh, and not adjusted too close i.e. maximum out clicks on the handle. But as soon as some road dirt and mud get up into them, even with a pressure washing from the underside, the hang up, don't return to center, etc. If you look at how this thing is designed, the spring layout doesn't exactly lend itself to the smoothest of return to center. Or maybe I am doing something wrong???

Well it looks like I am gonna have to pull it apart and see exactly what is rubbing and where to see if it can be cleaned up to be kept quite or not.
