    Hi,

I’ve been reading a couple of posts on driveline swaps and I got to thinking about a question. Do the yoke sizes need to match? Specifically, does the front drive set up need to match rear drive set up? Also, can the yoke on the transfer case be different size than the yoke on the axle as long as your drive shaft has the appropriate mates to fit each end?

I’ve done a few axle swaps in my ECJ5 and never had to deal with this because I’ve always swapped in the Tcase too (it’s been a package thing in each case for me – Tcase and both axles all coming from the same vehicle).

More curious than anything and wanting to solve for my curiosity. Thanks

As long as the driveshaft has the right yokes on it to matchup, I think you are just fine. My front driveshaft has a 1310 on the tcase side and an 1110 on the axle side.

When I did the SM465 swap I had the driveline shop make the yokes match at both the front of the T-case and front axle. IIRC they had to shorten a bigger yoke to fit in the axle. I now only have to carry 1 P/N for a spare. All 4 are now the same.
