    Ok,
    Dauntless 225, 1971 CJ5

Dropped off the block, rods, heads at the machine shop friday. They cant seem to find the 1971 225 to order parts. My question is are the parts for 62-67 225 the same as the 71? I believe that they are as the tooling for the motor changed ownership around 67 from what I recall reading on here.

Next has anyone used the Competition cam, the hottest one they sell? Did you have any clearance problems?

Project is still moving forward, I will post more pics sunday, I should have the tub off here in a couple of hours.

Thanks to all of you who keep replying to my post, I really couldnt get this done without you guys.

    Later
    marc

Valves in the earliest 225s were smaller as I recall. I don't know of any other changes internally but I've never looked into it.

    Just don't confuse the Fireball 198 with the 225, I thought '62 and '63 was still a 198 not a 225.

I've a Comp cams cam, but it's the 252H, for off-road use it's ideal IMO.

the 252h is plenty of cam. the 225 shares parts (rods, pistons, journal size)with a buick v8 and if i remember right, it's the 300.

Ask your shop if they are looking up a Buick engine and not a Jeep engine. There's no Buick 225 in 1971 - GM had sold the rights and machining to Kaiser. The range for Buick 225s is 1964-67, while Jeep while Jeep 225s were available 1966-71.

Thats what I was looking for, thanks guys.

I will be moving the steering, so does anyone produce headers for the 225 that are rear exiting on both sides. I figure that they make them for the 231, will these work? I thought I read that somewhere on this site.
    Thanks
    Marc
