I just recently was able to bring my Jeep to my new home, it was sitting for about 5 months (during winter). I have been noticing a little extra smoke coming out the tailpipes, which is understandable, I am sure the fluids aren't the prettiest things ever since they have been sitting for a while.

My question is, what should I do other than change the oil/filter, spark plugs, flush radiator, and maybe flush and fill the tranny?

    Thanks alot :)

FWIW, you should have changed the oil and filter before leaving it set. Old oil has a lot of nasty stuff in it, not good to leave it in the engine (but we all do )

If the Jeep has always been maintained and it's not due for other work, I'd change the oil and filter, make sure the other fluids look ok, check the tire pressure, and drive it. Storage, especially short term, doesn't automatically mean it needs a ton of work.

    Thanks,
The only reason that I wanted to go ahead and do some of the other work (tranny fluid, radiator, spark plugs) was because they needed to be done anyway before it sat. I was just making sure that I wasn't going to miss something important.

"Flush" is not a good idea IMO. If there's contamination in the oil, I'd suggest you change the oil a couple of times after short mileage. This applies to the engine, transmission and transfer case.

Otherwise, get the shop manual and lubricate everywhere it says to. Repack the front wheel bearings, new front bearing grease seals, inspect the brakes, top off the brake fluid, grease the u-joints and drive shaft splines, change the oil in the axles, new engine oil and filter, clean the PCV valve, drain and refill the radiator. It'd be good to use a strong light and a creeper and look closely at everything you can from underneath. Look for leaks, missing parts, etc. Air up and inspect the tires. Add some dry gas (methanol) for the next couple of tanks to remove any water condensation in the fuel from sitting. Replace any hoses that look questionable - definitely the heater hoses, but I'd replace all the belts and hoses and carry the old ones for spares, if you haven't done that already. ... that's all I can think off off the top of my head.

<edit> New fuel and air filter. New rubber fuel hose at the filter and from the pump to the frame.
