I am working on replacing the transmission crossmember for a 68 cj5 with a dauntless V6. The problem I am having is the replacement crossmember I have does not line up with the hole/donut to secure the transfer case. The bent crossmember I removed was jury rigged I believe with an S bracket and the donut had been cut out of the crossmember.

Does anyone have photos of their setup handy with the crossmember connecting to the transfer case with offset holes though the donut?

    Thanks

If nobody chimes in with the info you need, try calling Novak Conversions. They are in Logan, Utah. (435) 753-2513 They are very knowledgeable. I have seen another V6 crossmember with a hokey looking "S" bracket used to line up the holes. I mounted the donut (which I bought from Novak, by the way) to the crossmember and re-drilled the frame for the crossmember bolts when I put in the T18 transmission. The phone # above is for their pre-purchase tech dept. They should be able to help you out.

Mine had the "s" bracket originally. I too did away with it when I installed the T18.

Is this it? This is what I have but I have to get the correct doughnut (rubber mount).

This is the bracket on my 1970 CJ-5 with the v6 and T14 transmission. It probably isn't obvious from the pictures, but my bracket is broken where the transmission rests on it, so I am needing to either replace the bracket or find another solution. The bracket attaches to the frame. I would be interested to learn if the donut solution would work for me as well. Thanks![/ATTACH]

Thanks to all for the advice. With some washers as shims I mounted straight from the donut over with a homemade S bracket and it tightened right down. The photos were a great help. I am thankful for this board. What a great place to get educated with minimum pain.
    Thanks
