I am doing a SOA I need to clear the spring with my drag link. The tierod flip would be right where the spring is going I think.
My idea was to take the end off the pitman and move it to the passenger side knuckle then use a straight 1 piece tie rod to connect it to the other axle. Then if my measurements are right the stock left side rod will work as a drag link.A poor mans crossover. The draglink my clear but it will be close and I would like the draglink and tierod lined up as close as I can get.
I think I will know pretty quick if I can handle the stock drivetrain as my basis for a build. If I can steering and brakes will be top priority.

Why in the world would you go to all the trouble of doing a spring-over conversion and then go a to a LOT of trouble to modify the Ross systen to make it work?

If you are trying to do this on the cheap, I'd seriously reconsider the SOA idea. Virtually every SOA conversion I have ever heard of ended up costing a LOT more in the end than a simple set of lift springs would have cost in the first place.

Hmmmm I take it you dont like SOA conversions ? I do an I am very familiar with them.
As far as the steering...I am talking about spending $40 on a tie rod and about 1 hour to install sooooo whats the big deal ?

And just to clarify I dont think the ross will be around long.

No offense meant, it's just that an SOA isn't as simple as most folks think. I was also thinking that if you're going to wheel where you need an SOA setup then you are going to be very unhappy with a Ross steering setup.

I cant find a pic of my old setup but when i had the ross setup i extended my pitman arm (bell crank) by using a longer bolt. It brought it down probrobly about 6 inches. I had a pipe as a spacer and as you would think it had much wobble so i welded support brackets to it to triangulate it. It sounds questionable but i used a grade 8 bolt and i had no probloms with it for the 3 or 4 years that i used it. Iv since converted to saganaw

Right, Wrong or indifferent, I cut my pitman arm and extended/dropped it 2.5 inches. It is gusseted and basically just like a drop pitman arm. I have a superlift 2.5" lift and a 1" shackle lift. I am a good welder but since it was a steering component I took it to a licensed welder especially since it was cast.
