    I have a stock '67 vert w/ the Dauntless. Had the T86CC (remote control) transmission rebuilt a few months ago w/ a new first and reverse gear. After rebuild it would slip out of first upon deceleration if not held in place. I took it back for adjustment and it was better, but not perfect.

    Today my son came home in second and third gear, as first was pretty much shot. Reverse it wacky, too. The shifter will either pop right out, or the tranny will make ugly sounds and then it pops out of gear. Seems to drive fine in 2/3.

    Are these bad trannys? If I am going to sink another $900 into the thing I am wondering if I can swap in a T-14A so I can get the full syncro set-up. And, does anyone know if that tranny comes set-up for use with the remote control shifter? The factory manual shows a picture of such a thing, but the tear down schematics show only the cane shifter configuration.

    Anybody have a T-14A w/ remote control they want to sell fast?

    I would say $900 seems excessive for a low and reverse slider, especially a trans that didn't work when you got it back;
    inspect/redo what you have with a different shop/individual and get it fixed correctly.
    yes, the T14 was available as a side shift.

    I was surprised a bit at the price, but 1/3 was the parts. The rest was rebuild labor and labor for R/R. I think he will work with me. I have used this mechanic for 18 years whenever I didn't have the time or the necessary skills/tools. The tranny isn't difficult, but this old back no longer likes to lay under a vehicle and muscle a transmission. Learned that two summers ago when I pulled the tranny/transfer case from son #1's Toyota (I know, but what can I say, I love him just the same) 4Runner. Rehab took two months.

    I'd really like to go with a T-14, at least I think so - opinions appreciated. Any leads out there on a unit? I checked ebay and Craigslist with no luck. Surley one of you with a modified rig has that stocker laying around somewhere??
