Why run at WOT, shut off, coast to the side of the road, and read your plugs for the most "accurate" reading?

I rarely, almost NEVER run WOT. Why not run at 2000-2500 rpm, shut off, coast, and read?

Seems like it's a racer thing to me. Jeepers don't spend a whole lot of time at WOT, at least not this one.

Thats to check fuel delivery wfo. Only needed for race vehicles that see wfo for their entire life. Not really a street driven type test.Just to make sure they don't go lean and burn down.

Nope, run it down the highway at mid throttle for several miles at mid throttle, then check them...

The WOT was taught to me for a race engine, but the more I think about it you guys are probably right. The only thing I can think of is that at cruising speed you will still have a pretty high manifold vacuum and theerefore the idle circuits may still be supplying some fuel to the mixture. At WOT this cannot occur due to the low vacuum condition in the intake. Does that make any sense?
