I am wondering how hard and what all is involved in outboarding the springs on my 72 CJ-5. I would like to put Dana 60 in the front and rear of it.

D60??? are you gonna cut down the axles and have shafts made to length?

anyway.... spring perches on the axles, shackle and spring hanger placemnet are the next issue. steering and shock monts/towers need to be looked at also. my D44 is 60" WMS to WMS and its outboarded w/ a shackle reversal. the rear is not. if i SOA the front i may leave the rear SUA but outboard the springs.

For full width, you need to grab a welder and make mounts to match the front and rear axle. You can weld perches on the rear and match the frame, but I would not do that on a straight ladder frame.

Search is you firend. Blue Torch Fabworks make a kit for 76+ frames. Don't know if it will work on earler frames or not. But at least you will get an idea.
