Will the body mount bushing kits for a '55-up CJ5 work for my CJ3A? A few of mine are missing, and I'd like to just go ahead and buy a new set and replace them all. I searched, but all of the links in the old posts are either dead, or they lead to vendors that no longer seem to sell them, and the '55-up CJ5 mounts are the closest that I can find locally.

    Thanks,
    Mike

A CJ3A has nothing more than thick conveyor belt type material.

The 55 style are 3/4-1" thick so you may have some mod work if you use them.

I used the black 1" poly mounts when I put my body back on. It raises the body slightly and the clutch/brake pedal shafts aren't exactly centered in the holes anymore, but they also don't rub the body either. ( I don't recall if they were centered to start with...)
the price is right on the polys....
if going to restore exactly, you need the tire squares or the belt as mentioned.
The only other possible alignment problem would be the fenders to the tub; you might have to do a little relief on those holes, I don't recall on mine, been 5 years now.

That looks like it would work very well. I replaced all of my body mounts recently on my 55, Got the flat conveyor belt type mounts from Willys Overland @ 888-265-5337. They measure 3" long * 1 - 1/2" wide and are 1/4" thick with a 5/8 " diameter hole .

I replaced all of mine recently on a '71 CJ5. Used the rubber strips, double thickness like it came from the factory. Replaced all of the hardware at the same time with Grade 8 bolts, nuts, washers, and lock washers.

I took every bolt out and had about 6 of my buddies there to help pick the body up and center it. Put a new bolt in each corner and worked toward the middle. Also, treated for rust while the body was loose. Not too bad of a job.

I bough mine from Vintage Jeep.

I replaced the old type on my 'A1 with the new poly CJ type. I could not afford any pedal or fender height differential. So, I sliced the pucks in half on the table saw which gave me nice 1/4" thick pads. Worked great, pretty easy.

I used it and it worked perfectly being able to customize the lift, I did a 2 inch and slant/shape to match my mounts. Its a little softer than normal cushions though so I'm not sure how well it will hold up before I'l need to replace.

Thanks for all the responses. Mine is FAAAaaarrrrrr from a stock Jeep any more, so being correct is of no consequence to me. I'll go ahead and buy the ones for the '55-up, since I'm almost certain that is what's in there now, or what's left of them...LOL.

I have a poly kit on my '3a for 5 and it worked great. The pucks were 3/4" thick so it is about 1/2" body lift over stock. Some missalignment problems with the fenders to the frame(just left them hanging, don't know why you would tie part of the body hard to the body anyway) and the grill/radiator support. Used some thick washers in for the radiator support to get it to line up. It really was easy and I like the little bit of extra room it gave me between the trans and floor.

I used the sidewall of a used up tire. The sidewall cuts pretty easily with some nice sharp scissors. The used a sharpened hallow pipe to punch out the bolt holes.

If you go with the '55-up poly mounts, just use two under the grille shell mounts and the fenders will mount up just fine. You'll have to re-drill the bolt holes where the fenders attach to the frame, but that's easy to do.
My floor pedals are close to hitting, but they clear.

Post some pics up of your jeep. Most everyone here is familliar with your jeep. I talked to Tim Harris a while back and he told me you are the new owner of the jeep that Travis got from him. Back on topic, Omix Ada has a CJ body mount kit that covers most all the years, comes with enough 1" pucks to do a jeep and a half along with an assortmant of bolts and shims..

On our trail rigs we use them for everything from body mounts, to tranny mounts, to motor mounts with the way we set everything up. They work great on all kinds of different things, so we always have 30 or so of them in the shop.
