I am now engaged in a CJ2A project. I have the 60 portion of a 60 40 seat from a CJ5 from years past. I would like to use this, but of course finding a 40 frame is difficult. I understand that it is 18" wide as opposed to the CJ5 bucket seat width of 20". Also, the bucket seat doesn't fold over on itself, it only hinges up to get into the tool box. My wife and I would really like a bench seat. Has anyone used anything else successfully that allows for easy tool box access that is a bench seat. Station wagon rear seat?

The 40% portion of the 60/40 split I had folded flat and then flipped up like any other CJ-5 passenger-side seat.

I always thought (assumed) maybe incorrectly that the seat was the same as a passenger side seat in any other CJ-5.

There is a difference in the 2 passenger seats. I'll try to get some measurements tomorrow, unless someone beats me to it.

I am interested in knowing if in fact they are different sizes. I have a pasenger seat that folds flat and then flips...I always suspected that it was narrower that a standard seat. I was planning to use this seat with the standard drivers side (if I ever find one...hint hint) But now after reading this that may not be correct.

Glen - please report back when you can.

Here is the seat I have...

Note in the pictures mine measures 18". If this is not the same for the early buckets...Then...I now NEED both the drivers AND passenger seat frames!

    Thanks for all the help.

You may want to check the height also. I have the 60/40 seat in my 5 and it sits quite high which is fine in a CJ-5. I had an M-38 and I just used a padded board between the two seats.

The original CJ5 passenger bucket seat does measure a bit over 20 inches. The passenger seat of the 60/40 combo measures just over 18 inches. I agree about the height comment too. My 3B has the late '60s CJ5 frames and they are really too high. They are what came in it and I just kept them and used them.

I'd have to measure them, but both my 40% seat and the regular passenger seat fit the same next to my 60% seat.
