Anybody ever use a twist grip bike shifter for a rock crawling throttle.
In place of the shift knob??

I dont have any thumb type's.
But I have some nice twistgrip ones off my Cannondale.

    Any ideas??

    Pro's ,con's.

I think the twist grip would be harder to mount, since the tube of the handle bar is much bigger than your shifter, and you would want them to be co-centric Also it would be harder to manipulate, i my opinion. Twisting the barrel round the neck of the shifter seems like it would be less natural than just pushing or pulling the "paddle." Not to mention that you can get the "paddle" type shifter for well under $5.

This is my set up.It works awesome. A couple wraps of duct tape and a piece of garden hose. It's nice & snug. Also easily used w/ your trigger finger and you can feather the throttle nicely. With the barrel adjusters you can also adjust your idle. Oh yeah, the spring return on the brake lever is great. It's alot better than having to return the throttle manualy as you would with a twist grip type shifter or thumb shifter.
