Hello, I am putting a t-98 in my 58 cj-5. I am in desparate need of a 3rd gear for the tranny. Does anyone have any gears laying around, or a source for a gear. My local truck shop found one, but its about $450.00. I am not ready to spend that much for one gear. Thanks for the help, this is a great site. Caterpillarman

You may also want to try placing an ad in the want to buy section (it is outside of the forum with more exposure) if you need help please let us know.

Try R&P, or Novak, just off the top of my head.

If they don't have one lying around, they might give you a line on someone that does.

I presume this is a T-98 for a F134 engine. Is the Ford truck T-98 the same as the F134 T-98 internally? You might be able to buy a complete Ford T-98 cheaper than you could find parts for a Jeep, new or used.

Also, the early Wagons and J-Trucks used the T-98, and I'd presume those are the same as the F134 transmission except for the input shaft and the adapter. Those transmissions aren't cigar butts though - there's still some demand, but probably less demand than for the F134 transmission.

    hth!
