i would say if it has significant wear then replace it, mine was worn, not flat, but when i replaced it with all new bearings and drag link it was so much easier steering. being that it is worn can cause it to bind up making it harder to steer. decision is yours but like i said if it is significantly worn then replace it. Northstar willys has all the stuff the replace it. nice people too.

:iagree: My Bell Crank and Steering arm were both worn considerably but not flat, They had a small circular wear ridge where they contact the ball seat and plug. If the wear is not to extreme you can file the wear ridge down and hand fit the ball to the seat and plug by using some wet and dry abrasive paper. you can do a surprisingly good job by placing the abrasive paper ( with some light oil ) between the ball seat and ball then rotate it back and forth to just beyond the old wear ridge.

It is too cheap and easy to replace not to do it, considering the benefits. Northstar has good stuff and was the first place I found that had the bellcrank for the 70-71 V6 CJ5, iIRC

I haven't seen a bellcrank on an old Jeep yet that wasn't sloppy on the mounting bolt. As inexpensive as they are to replace, I'd go for it. Oh, and get the rebuild kit while you're at it, it puts needle bearings in the pivot in place of the bronze bushing and comes with a new pivot pin/bolt. ;)
