Buick 231 questions???

    Hey there, I just brought home what I was told is a 1985 Buick Regal v6 231. Can someone tell me where the engine serial number is? There is a number on the top of the back of the block. "E024" Does this mean anything? It has a computorized HEI. Can I remove this and use any GM 6 cyclinder mechanical advance distributor with the same F/O as mine? What options do I have in getting a mechanical distributor to work with the engine and my using an old 2G carb from the odd fire 225??

    Number doesn't mean much to me.

    Long as it's a Buick EF distributor it should work.

    If the 2G fits the intake it would work as well assuming you block off any extraneous vacuum lines, etc. that the 2G isn't equipped for I'd think.
