Steel price's suck! I know they have been going up but I just picked up a 24 ft section of 16 ga. 1 X 2 rectangular tubing to replaced the hat channel in my Flat Fender and it cost 49.00, still less than the original hat channel that would have been twice the cost but still too much. Still for 200.00 I have enough metal to replace the entire floor and supports and patch the body, and it was rough so I guess I shouldn't complain but I am.
Well enough complaining and back to work on the floor.

Yes, prices are high.. even the scrap yard is kinda spendy.. I think its @ 80 cents a pound for mild steel here.. how about those copper prices.. 6-3 wire at homedepot.. $2.75 a foot !

Not really, but I am taking donations for my project, you could have your name carefully place inside the rear bumper of my Jeep when it's finished. Would you like that? Donations start at $50.00.

I'd like to see some pictures of your hat channle and floor project. The floors look good on my MB but I have to redo the ones in my '73/'75 CJ5 plow Jeep project.I just built a tailgate for my chip truck.I bought a 4' x 8' sheet of 11 ga(no charge for shearing) and 24' of 1/2" x 2" channle it came to $160.91 .I've got an old dump box I'm going to cut up and haul in as scrap metal, wondering what I'll get for it...
