Not sure if I'm posting this in the right forum, but the idea is I want input from guys that use their cj5. My father use to own a cj5 when he was stationed in Germany and talkes about it to this day. He now ownes a 95 yj but does enjoy it. I've recently come across a 76 cj5 fiberglass and kevlar body. I've seen it when I was attending college and felt it was lifted too high, but thats beyond the point cause I can fix that easy. What do you guys think of the fiberglass/kevlar bodies? Also, it has the 304 in it. I know very little about those engines. Any advice as to what to look for on it would be much appreciated.

I don't know about the Fiber glass body, but my 75 has 304 in it that I am rather fond of. 304 is a good mill in a Jeep.

Plenty of folks run fiberglass bodies, including myself. They work just fine, and they don't rust! You can't beat the original body, but since thats gone, oh well. I can't tell the difference other than mine has some fiber showing where others would have a little rust.

As far as new bodies, Pros and Cons on both sides.

In the end, be sure thats not stopping you from getting it!
Just like any other vehicle you want to make sure its in good shape.
If the drive-train is in good shape and the frame isn't cracked or rusted out then its worth looking at. (Even if they weren't it would still be worth looking at for the right price ;) )

    Good Luck.
    Post some pics!
