first jeep build 70' cj-5 225

This is my first jeep im a high school student in a rule town in NC near the mountains i found an old jeep in a barn i was hired to clean out for an old man that was gonna pay me 500.00 to clean it out, haul off all the junk,and repair the roof so he could use it to store hay. well i towed out the old jeep in its primer/green/blue colors with my dodge truck and he said i could have it for cleaning out the barn or the five hundered and i took the jeep after doing so research on this website i discoved i have a 1970 cj-5 with a dauntless 225 rotchester 2bbl carb and a 3speed i found the title in the box under the passanger seat after i towed it home and started to clean it up some it was redigested to his son who aggred to sign it over ot me after his dad told him about me cleaning up the barn. he also told mw it had a factory hard top,chrome15x8 wheels (rotten 32x11.50x15lt) and various other things about it. also where the doors were so after replaceing all fluids and cleaning the carb,fuel system up aswell as plugs wire and cap/rotor she fired right up and ran like a champ currently im 1,256.78 in on the jeep with 5 new tires a paint job(green) and misc parts and fluids i love this thing but it rides like a rock though the 52k orginal miles do not hurt one bit im just wondering if i should try to lift this jeep or look for a 72 and newer version becasue i cant find anything to use as a lift also the jeep is extreamly hard to shift in to first and at speed it shifts like a dream in to 3rd or 2nd i would appreciate any help that u guys can offer i will try to post pics as soon as i can thx Matt.c
