Jeep V6 bell housing

    I have the chance to get a Jeep V6 out of a Commando. Unfortunately the engine was mated to an automatic. I have searched and in one instance I read an assertion that the GM bell housing (ie 151 Iron Duke) was the same as that of the Jeep (Buick) V6. This seems far fetched but then again possible.

    IIRC the 151 bell is a SBC pattern, not BOP. It'll work for a Chevy, not for a Buick.

    What do you want to mate the engine to?

    My son has an 80 CJ5 with a 151 in it and I have the 67 with an F134 that needs rebuilding. I'm just cogitating the various scenarios. I sort of leaning toward the swapping the F134 but the V6 doesn't have a bell housing with it so either swap seems about as costly.
