Which end of the driveshafts go to the transfer case? I didnt pay close enough attention when I removed them to rebuild the transmission and transfer case. My guess is that the smaller part of the adjustable shaft would go to the TC and the larger end toward the axle?

2 schools of thought on this; 1 put the small end on top to keep it out of the dirt, 2nd put the small end down to drain any collected water out of driveshaft.

    I follow the 1st.

Larger part of the slip-joint is always up.
