I got a new regulator for my 47 truck and had the generator gone over, too. I figure while I'm at it, I might as well run new wire between the two. Question is, what gauge wire should I use for each one of the old ones? It is still 6V. Ground wire, field and armature wires. Is there a general rule of thumb or maybe a table to show what size to use? Also. the regulator is the adjustable type of days of yore. Need I make any adjustments or should it be good out of the box? L head engine, 35 amp generator.
    Thanks guys.

I wouldn't think you'll need to do anything to the regulator. I'd say 10 ga. for the armature wire and 14 for the others.

OK Dave, as Glenn sez, that 10 ga. willbe fine for reg to armature and also should be same gauge for reg frame (housing) to eng i.e. battery ground. Your voltage should be regulated about 8V (somebody correct me) and your generator is permanent magnet type on field coils. If the rebuild shop did not test it after rebuild, it may need to be polarized before it will put out.
