I am restoring the body of my cj-5 from a good front clip attached to 75# of rust, to hopefully something drivable. I'm pretty much through reinforcing the frame as required, but have no idea of the detail of the underside of the body; hat channel layout, body mount assembly, gussets within fender wells and under front floorboards, etc. Does anyone have pics, factory photos, or know a source for a manual which would show body details? I know, I should have been a little more selective when I purchased the package from the original owner, but it was value priced (cheap!) and I felt I needed a challenge. Thanks for any help.

Thanks, Mike. That's EXACTLY what I needed. I do have a copy of Ludel's Jeep restoration manual, but do you feel that a factory original shop manual would show the underside support bracketry and locations better than Ludel's? I checked the cost of a '65 Jeep Shop Manual on Amazon.com, and they are really pricey.

Look in the classifieds. There was an early 5 body for sale in georgia that was stood on end and showed the channel and mounting locations. I will see if I can locate it.

Look on page three of the early Cj-5 for sale under classifieds. I am not quite savvy enough to link this......

Yes, the original FSM is well worth the investment. Check http://www.thejeep.com for reprints -- IIRC they were ~$40.

I just went and looked at mine however and while it shows the frame and the body mount location on the frame it doesn't show (that I found) the underside of the tub.

Thanks for the photo, Howard. I liked it so much I went back and plagarized a bunch more from the "Sludge Pile" series. They'll be a big help as I continue to fumble my way through this thing.
