I have a Buick 231, with buick bell housing, and a T90 tranny. I plan to use the Novak Adapters SBC/Buick adapter to mate the engine to the T90, and I would like to use a hydraulic throwout bearing.

My plan is to mount an aluminum pedal set to the floor of the jeep and use a hydraulic clutch and brake setup all in one.

I think this could prevent some of the binding issues that come with frame twist, and would be easy to set up.

My problem comes here: There's got to be a reason that this is not common. It seems easy enough - so what are the problems that I am not seeing??

    Thanks

    Not an expert...

But I know they came in some ford trucks and they are a pain.
They are more prone to failure then a normal bearing and then when they fail you have to pull it all out.

Had a buddy with a ranger had it replaced under warrenty 4 times.

The seal would go and it soaked everything:rofl:

They are more expensive. I replaced one of that style on my 94 Ford ranger. I first got one fron Autozone , but I got my clutch from Ford, while I was at Ford I asked to see thier unit. It was much more "heavy duty" than the Az unit and only cost 10 $ more.It also had a dust seal that looked like a CV axle boot... so I bought the Ford unit. Been in for a couple of years now without any problems.( I start to look for wood to knock on for good luck now that I say this ) Might be more to go wrong with this setup but I would be tempted to try hydraulic's out if the need comes up up. If you do install that setup be sure to let us know how it works out. I have been curious about this subject for some time now.
