spring question

Looking and dreaming about what to do with the 6, I noticed the rear leaf packs have 14 leaves... and the fronts have 11... I'm assuming someone has added some leaves to the spring packs?? How many should the fronts and rears have? I couldn't find my answer in the search.

 

Not necessarily. The fronts could have been replaced, or that could be the factory springs.

14 leaves isn't unheard of - didn't the M38A1s have 14 f&r? I don't know that there's anyone who knows how many leaves were used in every year.

Usually any original springs are so flat that they are unusable. Most folks just replace them with new that promise the lift they prefer and not worry about what was original.

 

Thanks Tim. Just curious is all. These will NEED to be replaced as half of the leaves are broke, some in multiple places.

 

I would have to recount I think my 70 cj5 has 12 in the front and 13 or 14 in the rear. I will check when I get off work tonite.
