Bad seal between the two. Transmission is higher than t-case.

is there a seal, or just the gasket? had it all apart, and didn't see a seal.

no seal between the two, just a gasket.

the T-14 has a higher fill plug than the Dana 18. this causes the oil to seek it's own level, there by over filling the transfer case.

I fill the transfer case, then fill the transmission. only did it the other way once.

I am amazed there is no seal. Quite the engineering oversight. Just another quirk of these early jeeps. I learned somthing today. Thank You!

Not possible unless its coming out the vent. They share oil between them, drive down a hill and the trans fills, drive up a hill and the transfercase fills, not really something to even worry about. Its when it quite leaking that you need to worry.

when i removed the fill plug, too much oil poured out. it had to have been an inch higher than the fill hole if not more. it had to come from somewhere trans was pretty low. all new now anyway sooo we'll see
