Is it possible to straighten a front drive shaft that is bent or do you have to get a new one. it has a smll curve in it what should i do it seems to work fine i would guess it would not be good for seals in transfer case and diff. thanks

IMHO take it to a driveline shop. Most times it will be faster/cheaper/easier to cut the center section out and fab up a new shaft, in any case it should be rebalanced.

would that cause a vibration in the front end i knnow the front drive shaft does not spin unless the hubs are locked and the transfer case is engaged, how much does a drive shaft cost, dana 27 front end and dana 18 transfer case. does a jeep ever stop costing money its just like a boat every day i find something else to fix and i dont even look for these things that just seem to find me.:?

It won't when you're in 2wd... Only because someone had installed locking hubs on the front. Originally there were none and it would vibe. But let's face it, it's a Jeep, and unless you baby it it will see 4wd, and when that comes it will vibrate.
x2 on the driveline shop. They'll hook you up with a good balanced shaft.

What would cause a vibration in the steering between 35-45 mph sometimes, it seems to be intermitent, i have saginaw steering upgrade, or is that just the joys of a 40 year old jeep:)

Death wobble, IIRC most Jeeps get it, not sure if you can put a dampener on it or not to "ease the symptoms"

So the death wobble interesting that is one way to describe it, feels like the whole front end is about to shake off, how would a steering dampener be attached?

Check tire/wheel balance. Make sure steering is tight. Most often it seems that "death wobble" is related to tire balance.

Steering damper won't fix the problem.

A steering dampener is usually added to mask the symptoms you mention, aka "death wobble". The best path is to go through your steering system to find and replace loose, sloppy and worn out parts. Especially look at at the tie-rod ends, king pin bearings/cups and the spring end bushings.

I had the front end up on jack stands with tires off and there was no play in the front end anywhere, there was about a half inch of play in the steering when turning the wheels from the ground had the drums off and no movement there there is 32x 11.50 bfg mudders from po that seem to be missing som lugs here and there and the death wobble only happens every once in a while

Have a helper sit in the drivers seat while parked , have them move the steering wheel back and forth to the extent that the "loose play" allows within the steering system . While this is occuring you will need to look at each and every connection of the steering system for fit and movement . Look carefully and thouroughly at each connection , i.e. kingpin bearing area , tie rod ends, etc. for any excessive play. This "play" , if excessive , can be "triggered" into the death wobble under the right circumstances. If you are satisfied that the steering is okay then you may want to recheck the balance of the tires. By all means fix the drive shaft problem anyways , a bent shaft will never get better on it's own. :)
