Hey everyone. I have a 1973 cj5. I'm having a bit of a problem with one of the forward body to frame mounts. The mount is gone, and the part of the body that it was attached to is rusted away. A local mechanic told me that the only way to fix this is to buy a new body. That may be the case, but it seems awful drastic to me. Any cheap suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Max, where is local? You should put that in your sig or in your profile.

That is drastic, and it's the sort of thing that a body shop would handle, not a mechanic. A common and (usually) easy repair.

Floor replacement is very, very common in CJs. Imagine a Jeep sitting open in a field, collecting water. Even in dry climates, the floors will rust out it the Jeep isn't covered.

You can buy new floor pans and hat channels ready-made for this purpose. Either that, or use steel sheet and tubing or channel to replace the rusted parts. A local sheet metal or HVAC shop can help you cut and bend the parts you need.
