Trying to gather up all the bits and pieces to finally install my D30 sometime in the near future. Been reading a little and came across this thread:
    http://www.earlycj5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28441

JEEP is a '70 that has had '76+ lift springs installed. Current spring plates are home brew, and until I read that thread, I had planned on using the stock D30 spring plates, which are out of a '79. Axle is out of a '78, narrow and has discs.

Since my springs are 2", the perches on the axle are 2", and the plates need to be D30 for 2" (i.e. stock '79 spring plate), can I just swap spring plate positions and then hog out the holes a little as necessary to account for U-bolt position?
