I just picked up a 73 that had the spring over done. All work was done prior to me getting the truck so I have no clue about the quality (a.k.a. safety). One thing I see right off the top is the shocks. Looks like when the PO did the lift he left the factory shocks. When I look at them they look like they are fully compressed (or maybe 2" from full copm.).

So the question is how to I go about fixing this. New shocks (shorter) (any part #'s)?
there away to relocate the shock mounts?

I haven't spent much time looking at this as of yet working getting the disc brake swap finished (PO started it but never finished swapping out the Master. Thanks to this forum for pointing me to Pirate Jack, the seem to have the Master and proportioning valve I need).

One thing I haven't seen much info on is sway bar kits, any out there?

Sway bars are really more for coil spring setup.

Would'nt the original shocks be almost fully extended due to the added lift of the spring over?

The plate that the ubolts go through would be flipped upside down, now on top.
So that makes up most of the differance but still sounds like wrong shocks.

measure full compresion length and full extension length and order new shock size with the info.

This sounds exactly like the Commando my friend was selling. Did you pick this up in MA?

Thanks. I'll check that. Still working on braking before I get to shocks.

Where in Mass was your friends?
    Most likely it is.

If i remember he said that the lift was in place when he got the truck and he was the one that did the disc setup. Which he gave me the parts to finish it. 'til I screwed up the master (actually it killed it's self, piston was bad).

If it is the same person, nice guy could tell he didn't want to part with the jeep (nor his wife)

Yup, same one. Can see it in the avatar. Nice truck. I helped him a bit with it here and there. Good luck with it!
