During inspection, the bulbs were loose in their sockets on my 71 CJ5 w/ a V6... so the mechanic tried to alter the wiring to make everything work.... well it doesn't and I cannot figure out how it was originally. We had the front parking lights and side markers wired to blink together. And the parking light was also wired to work on it's own. The wiring diagram isn't clear on whether the signal from the flasher gets split, or if the lights are somehow wired in series. We used a painless wiring harness when we did the rebuild 4 years back.

This link shows a crude sketch of the front light setup.

The Br lines coming from the engine are for the running lights, which correspond to the L wire on the parking light. So I've got that part figured out. But how do the turn signals wire in? The passenger side marker grounds to the fender, and the driver side grounds to the grounding post. The Y on the parking lights is for the turn signal. Anyone care to edit the drawing I made with the correct connections? Right now, I think I'll just make the incoming L wires split into 2 separate wires. I know this is probably how it was supposed to be in the first place. But there was no splitting of the L signal. With the proposed wiring method, I still have 2 wires that are 'hanging' out that I believe go back to ground..... but the parking light is already grounded to the cowl and the side markers ground to their spots.... WTH Mate?

Have you tried going into Painless's web site and looking at the wiring booklet for the Painless kit you used?
