Andy , in the H.V.A.C. buisness there is a p.H. neutral dye that can be added into a refrigeration system. When added, this dye mixes with the oil (mixes with mineral and/or synthetic oils) and the refrigerant and moves about the system internally. When it leaks out it can be easly seen with a black light. Although it is not ment to be used in an internal combustion engine I know that it has been done. If you have a buddy in the buisness you might get some added to the engine oil and run it for a few minutes and check it over with the black light, you will find the leak if it is engine oil . Or you should be able to buy just the container "over the counter" at a refrigeration supply store , typical container is commonly refered to as a "cartrage" and sizes as small as 4 oz. are common. I think you would want at least 4 to 8 oz. for a 5 qt. oil system. You would have it in your motor for just long enough to locate the leak , then change change the oil and filter. If you dont know anyone in the buisness and buy just the dye make sure that its the type that you can see with any blacklight and not some other highly specialized lighting source.

one other possable leak area would be the end plug of the cam shaft. in this case you still have to pull the engine. Alot of people have replaced the rear main seal only to find the leak here.

ok this is weird... it stopped leaking.

I had to move it today from one side of the driveway to the other so that i could back my trailer up to the garage. Parked it over to the side and let it run while i was messing with the trailer. It never leaked a drop... i let it go for 20 mins and nothing :?

checked the oil level and it is down just a little bit from the last time due to the last time i ran i when i first started this thread (so i know it wasnt the tranny), but it didnt drop at all today.

what the heck is going on? it was dripping pretty darn fast before and now nothing... should i consider the problem solved? R) I just dont want to be 20 miles from home when it decides to start spewing again.
