Possible leaks from Dana 18

    StraightToPlaid Ludicrous speed!!!!

I'm getting oil leaking down from on top of the t-case. I'll be looking at it this weekend, any common leaks to check first?

It's a pretty substantial leak, a little puddle every time I park it. The rear output seems to be OK.

There has never been a Model 18 made that doesn't leak. In that respect, every one of them is a POS. Fix one leak and another will appear. Rant over.

I've always expected drips (and got a ton of them) but it's leaking out fast enough I'd worry about taking it out on a trail. If it forms a puddle when it's parked I worry about how much I'm losing when I drive.

    Where's the vent located?

This is one of the places mines leaking. It think it's pretty tight but still leaking. I plan to try an o-ring on there the next time I have occasion to take it off.

Some of the various bolt holes go all the way to the inside so will require thread sealer.

It's like a English car, if its not leaking it means its empty. Needs to be filled

the vent should be on top of the housing on front of the t-case just above the shift rails. another place is the small plugs in the back of the transmission shift tower.

Why do the British have so much oil in the North Sea?
