Hey y'all! Noobie question here. Not to jeeps but to CJ's for sure. My 1982 CJ5 has the original towbar or drawbar(?) attached to the rear crossmember with 4 bolts and 2 brackets underneath that attach to the frame. It has 3 holes to put towballs in with the middle hole being open. I was thinking or wondering if this setup was strong enough to count as a recovery point? I was going to ream out the middle hole just enough to fit a D-ring through. I am saving up for a rear bumper with a 2 inch receiver in the future to fit my bike rack but can this setup get me through until then? Thanks for any advice!

I've recovered my CJ from the mud bogs we play in with the rear shackle installed on an extension bolted to the original drawbar.

Not the best pic, but you get the idea. I haven't had any problems yet, buty I wouldn't try and lift the Jeep with that set-up.
