I'm trying to buckle up a "25" axle rebuild and am:(:( having an issue (most everything seems to be an issue) with the threaded front axles.
With no nut on the end the axle is binding or catching on something when turned left or right but moves freely straight ahead. Hubs will not work with a nut threaded on. I put the nut on and cut off the remaining threaded portion and it seems to work fine in all posotions.
The people at Warn said to cut the threaded portion off and let it float in the housing. Directions with a new set of hubs said to put the nut on and cut off the remaining threaded portion which I did. If I leave the nut on there is no hole ( gone with the cut off portion ) for a cotter pin.
Has anyone had experience with this ? Advise is appreciated.

Should I drill a new hole for a cotter pin or try to find a locknut?
    Thanks
