Dana 41 questions

    Hello all,

    Just putting back together my Dana 41 and on one side after install the tapered shaft and the race, it sits pretty flush with the housing face.

    When I did the short side the race/bearing sticks out about 3/16 of an inch.


    Is this normal? I figured it would look like the other side.

    I believe if you pull the long side out a bit the short side will go in further. Assuming it's like the 44 there is a thrust block in the center of the differential that the axle shaft ends butt up against. You should be able to pretty much center them up so both sides will be about equal.
