Im wondering how much work you would have to do to a XJ if you cut the roof off it :?
The roof is pushed to the top of the seats and im not sure how much else is damaged
Im thinking of which way is easier
    - Transplant the engine and drive tran into my CJ
    or
    - Cut the roof off and put full cage and whatever other work would be nessasary

I have a guy in my jeep club who cut off the roof on his XJ. He roleld it so much it was such a mangled mess. There is no straight piece of metal on it, but he still brings it out and competes in it. And does quite well with it. I would say after seeing that, cut off the top up to the windshield frame and cage the rear and have a blast :)

Being a unibody I would think a full cage and frame stiffeners. There are stiffeners on the market that tie the front and rear lower control arms together. For more info you might want to check out NAXJA. http://www.naxja.org/
