I just purchased the HEI Distributor from 4WD. It comes ready to go with "1 wire hook up". First, I did not expect it to be so big. Anyway, it looks like there are 2 connections under the cap on the side. Can someone tell me how to intall this? :?

Not that this helps answer your ??? but when you get it in it would be awesome if you could let us know how it works. I have been thinking of getting one, but haven't heard from anyone who actually uses one about how they are.

One of the best upgrades I did. The HEI has two wires normally. One that goes to the ignition, one that goes to a tach. Don't have to wire the tach. Google "HEI install jeep"and search this site, tons and I mean tons of info out there on HEI and installing. Never seen a bad write up on upgrading to HEI.

*** Note, I bought mine from EBAY from CRT Performance. Don't know if they are still around. The dist came with a clear cap - pure crap. The spark would go through the cover and ground on the screw in the cap. Replaced cap from parts store. I pulled two from the parts yards first and they were dead so took the easy route and went ebay. 258 I-6

For a little clarification. The pins are labled, the power line needs a +12V source that is on in both the start and run position on the ignition switch.

look at the cap carefully all the connections are labeled. Just a note don't just hook it up to the coil wire because it may be a resistance wire. The hei takes no resistor like the stock sysetm.

I found off the ignition switch a constant 12v that is switched and also on in the run position. I ran this to switch a relay for a full 12v to a fuse bank for the HEI and other items.

Thanks for the info.:) The Starter and then the Tach makes sense. I have to look harder for the labels, but sounds like I'll find them.
