What years did they install the Bendix and Rzeppa joints in early CJs?
I always thought it was just in the early 2As that they used anything other than Spicer-type joints, but a 3A I've been working on has Rzeppa joints.

Was it all across the board with the flatties? Also, what was the point of using the different style joints?

    thanks,
    evan

Basically there were three in the closed knuckle front axles. My '56 came with Bendix, still have the little tag that ID's it as "Bendix Equipped"

When checking u-joints. How should they feel smooth as you twist and turn them? How would i know if they needed replacement?

If they are standard u-joints you can grab each side, if there is play in the joint they are bad.
