I think I am leaning toward this setup

    http://www.flowperformance.com/

    I was thinking about this

    http://www.performancetrends.com/ez_flow_system.htm

But to be accurate with a orifice from what I have read about flow benches, combined with my 22 years measuring gas flow and pressure on semiconductor equipment you need to change the orfice when you change ranges.

I also found one of thies on e-bay but it is the 2.0" and that would not handle enough flow. see www.audietech.com

For vacuum pumps I was thinking about starting with 6 2 stage pumps that flow over 100 CFM each so the flow should not drop off as fast @ 28"water I will build it to hold 8

I picked up 10 of the motors I wanted on e-bay for 179.50 for all 10 when I made the last post I was planing on spending from this site http://www.centralvacuumfactory.com/lamb-ametek-11603613-2stage-vacuum-motor-volt-p-448.html
169.00 each but I wanted this 2 stage pump so that I could maintain the same pressure drop at higher flow rates I did a cost benefit analysis and to get accuracy at higher flow rate was worth the 1014 ( plus shipping ) for the first 6 pumps because I could add more of the same later.

Hows that for luck I decide what I want then find it cheep ( I wish that had happened with my Warn OD LOL )

Now before you all start thinking I have lost my mind and want to port my 225 heads out to get high flow this will be use on big block and mopars and hemis that I plan on being my bread and butter. This 225 is just a off in the left field project fun but as you all said I will not make money on it.

    OK - I'll bite.

What's a flowbench and what do you use it for?

I think it's used for porting and polishing heads to check how they "flow".

Not sure what else it can be used for.

Like said above its designed to measure the amount of air that flows through the ports after you port/polish the runners.
