looking in search and found discussion on cam spring and button 2004 but couldn"t resolve issue? My situation. Going to do T-chain replacement and upon removal of cover, did not find that - - - spring and button on end of cam bolt or any place else? There is no place on inside of my cover that would hold that button in place. Previous parts changer had installed the fuel pump eccentric backwards so I know someone has been in there. Any comments or expertise on thrust retainer will be appreciated. Tnx

IIRC, the spring goes on the end of the camshaft. It has a prong on it that affixes it to the cam. Button snaps onto the spring. Cover provides contact surface for the button, but no attachment. Advance Auto Parts sells the spring and button.

Alot of these 225s never came with a thrust button.

Most of the FLAPs do have them available. I know I found it on Autozone's website after I got one Mcruff made.

it is a good thing to add, if you are in the timing chain case. cam walk affects timing and accelerates lifter and cam lobe wear, it is said.
