I was perusing the Samurai forums and i came upon a picture of a toyota axle with a caliper on each side of the same rotor. There was no description of it, but I thoguht of this......

What about adding a second caliper to the front or rear, and use a seperate MC and create a trail parking brake. I doubt it would be legal for on road DOT purposes. It would be like a line lock but have it's own hydrolic system so the main brakes will not be affected. I would work really good. Could do it for the axles, or even do it for a transfercase brake and elimiante all the linkages and bellcranks for the mechanical brakes.

OK I will step away from the crack pipe. But here is a pic from the samuai forum.

Hmm, wonder if you could fit 2 more calipers and completely encircle the rotor with brakes? Cough, cough, man this stuff is strong...passing the crack pipe...

Actually that will be bad if you dont find a way to cool the rotor :( Given if it is all one rotor it should stop on a dime. :)

The person who has that setup indicated it is used as a primary brake setup, one of the axle manufactures is prototyping that setup. Looks cool, i jsut wonder how to weld a bracket on the other bracket, If i jsut buttweld the new bracket to the old, i guess i will need to add a plate to also support it but since it is only gonig to applied at stop maybe it will work just doing a buttweld.
