I posted a while back about how I pulled the PS setup and column off of a 93 4.0L XJ from a local bone yard.
I thought it wouldn't be a big deal to get a V-belt pulley to replace the serpentine one on there. WRONG
Turns out that its practically impossible. All the FLAPS including NAPA have been no help, they even called their suppliers and they couldn't help.
I finally found a new pulley from Chrysler, $100. I have that much in the whole setup.

So, my question is. Are the backs of the saginaw pumps all pretty much the same? If I go pull a pump with a v-belt pulley will I be able to match it up with the mounting bracket?
Or is it more specific to jeeps or chevys or fords?
    Thanks

Watch ebay. It took me 2 to 3 months to finalize my setup - needed the bracket for the pump(74 258 with passenger side mount) and the crank pulley - 2 groove. Search AMC and other keywords beside jeep to find the rare parts and deals. Good luck!

IIRC the pumps all have the same bolt pattern between chevy, jeep and dodge. I don't think that ford used that pump, but I could be wrong.

That is correct, the pump in my 96 tahoe is the same as the one in my 72 cj!

The resivoir is different, but the pump itself is the same.

I tried too fine a new pulley for my cj when i bent the old one. Eventually i gave up, and bent the old one back.

    Right on.

    Alright, thanks guys.
I'm sounds like the best thing to do is go pull a Saginaw pump from a GM or Chrysler that has a v-belt already on it, I can shim if needed.
    Thanks!

Found a mid '80s Full size GM wagon has a 2 groove vbelt drive pulley Also some older stuff, AMC and such, piggybacked the pollution pump off the PS pump. So those have 2 groove pulleys as well.

I'm piggybacking my Sanden air compressor off my PS pump, so I did a lot of hunting on this! LOL!

    Hope this helps!
