I have an '82 cj5 power steering box on my '76 cj5. Just finished the conversion and everything is working great with the exception of a pretty consistant drip from the input shaft. I tried the lucas oil stop leak product but it did not work. I just ordered a new seal for it today. Does anyone know if the seal can beremoved and replaced from the ''outside'' of the box or do I have to disassemble the the whole steering box and remove the shaft?
Any suggestions for someone starting to restore this jeep-things to replace to keep it reliable?
    Thanks, chris

Have you looked at a factory manual? It might have a procedure.

There's a '72 manual at c104.net and at trailforge - you can look at that. Pretty much the same PS gear.

I'll look at my '77 manual when I get home.
